The White Oak Experience
White Oak Plantation was built on 22 lush, green acres in the heart of Baton Rouge. Inspired by Houmas House Plantation, the main house, surrounded by 16 magnificent Doric plaster columns and 16” thick solid masonry walls, gives the traditional old fortress appearance that was so popular in the 1800s. Just as travelers did in the 1800s, guests take a step back into the past and enjoy the experience of the Old Deep South as they arrive on the property.

Inside the home, guests will be impressed by the grand stairway and the main parlor with its 26-foot ceiling; 3-tiered, antique crystal chandelier; gorgeous period paintings and antique furnishings. Adjoining the foyer is a private board room/bride’s suite.

In our private dining area, guests enjoy the elegance of a Grand French Ballroom, featuring a black and white simulated marble floor, three LeBaron crystal chandeliers with matching wall sconces, and a sound system offering music to suit anyone’s taste. A Banquet Manager oversees our professional waitstaff who are trained to tend to every need of our guests.

Our kitchen is a replica of Jean Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop and Gallery, located in the historical New Orleans French Quarter. Wonderful aromas waft from the kitchen as your private culinary staff prepares a menu made from recipes developed by world-renowned Chef John Folse and designed specifically for your event.

After the last course has been served and the coffee poured, our guests are invited to look around the property and ask questions. The patios and courtyard areas were designed with the old French Quarter flavor and styles in mind. Our main patio area features an open hearth for hosting cochon-de-laits, along with a large fountain fashioned after the one found at the Court of Two Sisters restaurant in the French Quarter.

Our smaller courtyard area, located between the Main House and the Grand Ballroom, features a large fireplace, a magnificent fountain and deep green foliage all around.

Four full-time landscape architects and a full-time lawn crew keep our grounds and gardens trimmed and in bloom year-round. Guests are invited to visit our lake, Persimmon Hill and Cathedral Lane. A man-made stone creek now meanders through the back of the property up to the lake. Also, a wooden bridge has been built to cross the lake.

From company picnics and crawfish boils to family reunions, from weddings to corporate seminars, from relaxed parties to elegant seated dinners, White Oak Plantation’s commitment to each is the same. From the time you walk onto the property until the time you leave, our staff strives for Excellence Without Exception as we Create Events to be Remembered – THAT is the White Oak Experience.
