Dear Future Dining Partners, You are cordially invited be a part of a new and exciting dining club at White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge. I am excited to introduce “The Order of the Good Time.” As a member of this fine dining club, you will enjoy an exciting event with Chef John Folse, as well as a fine four-course meal prepared by White Oak’s outstanding culinary team. A cocktail social hour will precede this dinner where you can socialize and network with many of this area’s most interesting and important people. L’Ordre Du Bon Temps or “The Order of the Good Time,” was the first dining club founded in North America. Samuel de Champlain established it in 1606 at Port Royal when the French Acadians arrived in America to establish Acadie. The purpose of the club was to provide entertainment and satisfy hearty appetites during the long, harsh Acadian winter. Each member took a turn being the host for a day and his menu was based on that day’s hunt. If the hunt was less than ample then the host would trade with the local Indians for sufficient fare. Thus began America’s first “gourmet’s club” in Acadia, “The Order of the Good Time.” We are excited to welcome you into the prestigious club, “The Order of the Good Time.” All members will have first right of refusal on reservations for holiday events at White Oak Plantation and a 10% discount on any and all functions booked, including corporate events, business and civic occasions, and even weddings. Please direct any questions or comments to Katherine Lapeyrolerie at White Oak Plantation by dialing 225-751-1882 or emailing to katherinel@jfolse.com. Sincerely, Chef John Folse
